Whitacre Garden Centre Blooms at Greatest Awards!

Visitors to Whitacre Garden Centre can rest assured that they are truly in the presence of greatness, after the centre won certificates in both the Gold and Silver categories at The Greatest Awards, hosted by The Garden Media Company.

The catering team at Whitacre’s Café Camellia not only stormed in the Regional heats to find the Greatest Team, but then went on to beat 4 other regional winners to take home the title of the Greatest Team for the whole of the UK! This status is due to Whitacre providing food “cooked like your mum used to” as one voter commented and for meals that deliver the “wow!” factor.

Voted for by Whitacre visitors, this award constitutes recognition for great food, choice, atmosphere and service from the people who matter most: the customers! Scores of customers from around the country cast their votes to find the best of the best, which as Joint Managing Director of Whitacre, Helen Lloyd comments “makes this award even more special”.
As one voter put it, “Everything has that homemade taste”, a comment that proved typical of praise for Whitacre, although it wasn’t just the great food that thrilled the local and national voters alike.

In the Best Small Garden Centre category, Whitacre was presented with Silver, an award which according to the judges “reflects the successful creative approach, translating through the seasons at Whitacre.” This is a huge achievement for the team who, since taking over 5 years ago have strived to provide great service and choice for its community.

The accolades didn’t end there. In addition, staff at Whitacre are delighted to have been awarded Silver in a further category, in which voters were looking at the centres commitment to Outdoor Leisure. Here, the Whitacre team really shone as the judges commented that the colour scheme and selection “worked an absolute treat”.

pres The awards, in their inaugural year, will become an annual feature on the garden centre calendar. Staff from Whitacre Garden Centre celebrated their success at a Gala Garden Party at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham, after being nominated in several categories. Most importantly, the UK – wide awards were voted for by visitors to garden centres around the country. Votes were cast by text, on the internet and in garden centres around the country.

Monies raised by the votes will be donated to The Greenfingers Appeal, a charity which is currently dedicated to the creation and improvement of the gardens at UK children’s hospices, providing places of peace, solitude and calm to ill children, their parents, friends and relatives.

Whitacre was also nominated in the In Store Marketing and In Store Merchandising categories, showing recognition for the broad range of services offered at the centre and the team’s dedication to finding new ways to encourage people to enjoy their homes and gardens.

This important recognition from Whitacre’s customers shows that all the improvements at Whitacre are meeting the public’s tastes and exceeding their expectations of what they expect to see and experience at a garden centre. The Greatest Awards has provided great feedback for Café Manager Janet Blundell, “We are over the moon to have won Gold at the Greatest Awards, and it is a really good feeling to have all our hard work recognized.
